The Pleasure of Helen

The Story tells the experience of person name’s Helen Miley with her trouble. She had many trouble in her life as such her father and uncle was died when they went into town to make payment at bank. She guesses they had a few drinks. On the way back they pilled up our ford pickup truck. They were both killed.

Before her father and her uncle death they were very happy home. Her parents always liked a lot of company. Every Sunday evening there’d be crowd over for supper on the lawn if the weather was nice. People would bring things. Baked beans, potato salad, cucumber, pecan pie, a chocolate layer cake and also big Ham. Every women would bring what she was famous for. And her uncle played the mandolin, and her brother names Earl, he played the guitar. A lot of fun. Beside that her brothers would ask the girls were going with. It was nice. They would sing songs. No one knew what was going to happen. After that her father and her uncle went to town to make a payment at the bank and that time her father and her uncle go for long time.

She love her father very much and her uncle too, and both of them were big man and real man. Because when she was child they were very close with her and every day when she started to cry, her uncle hugged up her and kiss her and told what he had done and gave her all the rabbit for her own. And joke like that me her always miss with her uncle.

However went she got illegal married with man who she met in New York her life more trouble than when her father and uncle’s die. Before she live and got illegal married in New York she came from Ohio. After she left Ohio and came to New York she meet the man that became her husband. When she meets him he was training to be a pilot in the Air force. Then he made lieutenant. She had big thing from him, and every time he got to New York and he stay with her. He was from Boston and she didn’t know he was married until the night he got sent overseas.

Helen was very embarrassed and disappointed because of it, how it possible to be intimate with a man for a year and she not now he is married. Actually she was very love with him even though he tell to her he was married, it was okay she said to him. He said his wife didn’t understand him, and he wanted to her to wait for him and after he got back from overseas, he’d divorce his wife and merry her. But she didn’t answer his letter and ignore it because she didn’t believe with her because it really he didn’t  make any difference, however  He swore that if she would wait for him, he’d get a divorce and marry her. Then Helen heard he came back and actually divorce his wife and merry a woman he had only known a week or two. “But it not makes Helen grudge and lost her spirit in her life.

  Helen Miley is strong girls, within her facing problems she never hopelessly even though she got many trouble in her life, she always enjoyed it. However exactly not only Helen have serous trouble problem also Jo Rhodes her friend who the meet. Jo Rhodes, his name actually Joseph Rhodes, but he change it into Jo one day when he happened to be reading a dictionary and discovered that Jo was term of endearment in Scottish. Jo also have similar problem as Helen, his wife was die and when his wife die he got ride of everything. Both of them sharing their experience together as Helen tells Jo her experience and Jo give advice to her. Helen was working as secretary to an office manager in Lower Hotchkiss and before she does secretarial Helen was restaurant waitress.

As long as Helen with Jo they have a lot of friend such as Harry Tennant, Richard Faye, Peggy Palmer, Susie Crarar and Clark Bannon. They are good friend at the time, before she meet Clark she always with Jo, and other friend’s in the place where they work and have to spent their time.

One day when Peggy Palmer got married and all of her friend attend the Peggy wedding reception. At the time Helen drinks champagne to much and also ate shrimp. The groom corned Helen near the bar. “You’re her best friend” he said accusingly. “You got any idea what a new bridge cost” Helen admitted she hadn’t. ‘it is expensive” he stated gloomily” after all, I’m made of money. I’m not a millionaire, you know”

Helen told him she didn’t believe that Peggy thought, he was millionaire, within the party or wedding reception they were had trouble. It cause of they had misunderstand from one to another so they had aggrieved of it.

Before Peggy celebrate her wedding reception one of their friend had trouble names Richard Faye who they called Uck. Uck’s father was die and Uck was very sadness so that uck didn’t not with they and back to uck father house and did not now if Peggy had meeied.

At the time after Helen told with Carrie Edward, she went back to the bedroom for calling Charles Lefferts. No one answered. She wandered into living room for another drink. “Beautiful” Carrie Edward sobbed. It was, finally Helen Miley decided more than human flesh and blood stood could stand. After she went to bedroom again for calling Charles Lefferts but there is no one answered, She finished her glass of champagne in two stomach-flopping  gulps she grabbed up purse, coat, gloves. She left Apartment, without saying good bye to any one.

After she left the Apartment she meet with a man names Clark Bannon and at the time, she spent time with Clark. When they in the room for played old recording of Bing Crosby singing “just a gigolo” she cried. The second recording was Marlene Dietrich singing “falling in love again” in German Helen cried again and finish her beer. On other day they spent their time together and at the time Clark ask Helen to having dinner and she agreed the were very happy and she forgot what was going on and have new planning.

Helen Miley stepped into the warm city sunlight and smiled. On days like this, when the whole city was in ecstasy, Ohio was more than just miles away. Life was indeed a bowl of cherries, bursting with promise and ripe with opportunity; a pirate ship sailing to adventure, a smorgasbord of sweet male flesh.
